Ekta Kapoor's reboot version of the cult show Kasautii Zindagii Kay is set to hit the TV screens on Star Plus on September 25. Ever since the makers made the big announcement, fans have not been not able to control their excitement. In fact, Kasautii has been building a curiosity that is only growing with each passing day. While Ekta introduced us to the romantic pair, who will play the character of Anurag and Prerna Basu respectively, the Producer is yet to unveil her Komolika. We all know the classic love story of Anurag and Prerna, but recently at a press meet, Ekta revealed the secret behind the character names, Anurag and Prerna.

While Ekta had earlier revealed that she named the male lead as Anurag Basu after her friend (filmmaker) Anurag Basu, the inspiration behind Prerna's name had always been a mystery. Recently, Ekta had taken to the micro-blogging site to tweet, which read, "Let’s start a quiz everyone knows that #Anurag Basu was a name kept after my director frn Anura Basu ! Can anyone guess who was Prerna named after!"

While Ekta was to reveal it after a couple of days but she revealed at the press meet. On being asked the secret behine the name Prerna, Ekta said, "Okay, I had thought I would reveal this after some days but now that you have asked, I will tell you.” She further added, "Sharman Joshi’s wife’s name is Prerna. She is the daughter of my dad’s close friend Prem Chopra. We were having a tough time trying to finalise the perfect name opposite Anurag. That’s when a colleague suggested Prem ji’s daughter Prerna. And I instantly knew I have the perfect name." Ekta also said, "Anurag means love and Prerna means inspiration. Given the storyline, I think it’s the best names we could get."

Speaking of cast, reportedly Parth Samthaan bagged the role of Anurag Basu, while Prerna will be played by Erica Fernandes. Actress Pooja Banerjee too has been roped in to play a pivotal role in the show. Rumour has it that Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai fame Hina Khan will play the iconic Komolika character. However, the mystery around the Komolika's character still remains. Watch this space for further updates.
