Delhi, December 2: Speaking on the bone-chilling rape and murder of Telangana veterinarian, Trinamool Congress Member of Parliament Mimi Chakraborty on Monday said that laws should be made stringent so that a person needs to think 100 times before even looking at the woman with ill-intentions. Reacting to Jaya Bachchan's statement in Rajya Sabha that "rapists should be lynched", Mimi Chakraborty said, "I agree with her. I don't think we need to take rapists to courts with protection and then wait for justice. Immediate punishment is needed."

The Hyderabad rape and murder incident has led to massive protests across the country. The four accused have been arrested and three police officials have been suspended for negligence.

Earlier today, AIADMK MP Vijila Sathyanath broke down during a speech at the parliament where she said that country is not safe for the women. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also said that the accused must be given strict punishment.
