Srinagar, February 10: In a shocking incident, an Indian Army Major Nisheet Dogra lost his life in a snow blizzard in North Sikkim on Saturday. The brave soldier was on his way to North Sikkim for the deployment in a tank regiment. Since the exact situation is unknown, the security forces said they are looking into the matter.

The sad situation is being monitored, and special precautions are being maintained by the security forces, so that this incident is not repeated. However, the dip in temperature in the Himalayas area cites of worry, with several places are immovable and out of communications. Himachal Pradesh Witnesses Heavy Snowfall and Rain, Two-Day Holiday Announced in Kullu and Shimla Schools. 

Not only Sikkim, several places in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir have separated from each other due to heavy rainfall. The Met department has issued thunderstorms warning in the Himalayas, with chances of avalanches too. Due to the below freezing point temperature and heavy snowfall, the District Administrations of Kullu and Shimla have extended the winter vacations by two more days for primary and senior secondary schools. The schools will now reopen on February 13 instead of February 11.
