Pakistani’s opening batsman Ahmed Shahzad could face a suspension as he failed the dope test. The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed the news about the same via a statement. The statement said that Shahzad's urine sample was collected during the Pakistani Cup, a domestic tournament.

“He has been given till July 18, 2018, to advise whether he wishes to have his B Sample tested and till July 27 to respond to the charges levelled in the Notice of Charge,” the PCB said in a statement on its website. “The PCB has also provisionally suspended Ahmed Shehzad pending the outcome of the charges,” further read the website.

It was last month that the Pakistan Cricket Board without revealing the name had announced that a player had not passed the doping test. "A player has reportedly tested positive for a prohibited substance. But under the International Cricket Council rules the PCB cannot name the player or charge-sheet him until the chemical report is confirmed by the Anti-Dope Agency," the board said on last month.

Due to the sensitivity of the matter, the report was sent to India for re-checking. "Pakistan's anti-doping agency wanted to be very sure and double-check it because a senior player was involved, hence it asked the Indian lab to re-check the tests," the PCB said.

As per a few sports analysts, the opening batsman could face a yearlong ban. The opening batsman has always been in the eye of the storm since his debut in 2009. Shahzad was dropped out if the team since World Twenty20 in 2016 in.
