5 Killed, 11 Injured in Doda Bus Mishap

Doda (Jammu and Kashmir) [India] Apr 24, (ANI): Five people were killed while 11 sustained serious injuries when a minibus carrying a dozen passengers fell into a gorge near Piakul village on Wednesday."The bus, ferrying passengers from Thatheri to Gandoh, is said to have lost its balance when it came under heavy land slid and boulders," said SSP Doda Shabir Malik.Of all the injured passengers, six are reportedly said to be in a critical state. Locals first came to the rescue of the injured people, added the police official.All the injured passengers were initially taken to Thatheri hospital and later shifted to Medical College Doda for further treatment.Road accidents due to landslides are getting frequent with increasing degradation of the environment in the region, local residents claim.
