Aishwarya Upsets 2nd Seed Sachika, Advances to Quarterfinals

Aishwarya Khubchandani fought hard to secure an upset victory over 2nd seed Sachika Balvani 11-13, 11-4, 11-7, 11-7 and advance to the quarterfinals of the Otters Club Vedanta Squash Open here Wednesday.

Mumbai, Apr 10 (PTI) Aishwarya Khubchandani fought hard to secure an upset victory over 2nd seed Sachika Balvani 11-13, 11-4, 11-7, 11-7 and advance to the quarterfinals of the Otters Club Vedanta Squash Open here Wednesday.

The Otters Club Vedanta Squash Open is a PSA satellite event and a three-star tournament on the Indian Junior squash circuit.

Aishwarya was leading the 1st game at 7-5, but allowed Sachika to make a comeback.

The game went into an 11-11 tiebreaker after which Sachika used her experience to score back to back winners to take the first game 13-11.

Aishwarya shrugged off her first game loss and dominated the rest of games making very few mistakes to win the tie 11-13,11-4, 11-7, 11-7 and advance to the quarters.

In another match 3rd seed Sanya Vats breezed past unseeded Ankita Patil securing an 11-0, 11-0, 11-1 victory.
