Lakhimpur Kheri (UP), Jun 2 (PTI) An elderly woman and her two sons were killed when their car collided with a speeding container truck on the Lucknow-Bareilly national highway here on Sunday, police said.

Two other members of the family were injured in the accident that occurred near Jalalpur petrol pump in the Uchauliya police station area.

The car driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a road divider before colliding with the container truck. Vimla Upadhyay (60) and her sons Deepak Upadhyay (40) and Rajiv Upadhyay (35), all residents of Lucknow, died in the accident. The bodies are being sent for post-mortem examination, police said.

They said the injured were rushed to neighbouring Shajahanpur district for treatment.
