Agartala (Tripura) [India], May 2 (ANI): The Tripura Police intercepted a three-wheeler and detained three women for allegedly peddling ganja at Hawaibari checkpost in Khowai district on Thursday. The cops seized a total of 25 kilograms of ganja from their possession, a police official said.

Sharing further details on the incident, Officer in Charge of Teliamura police station Rajib Debnath said, "The police officials engaged in Naka checking stopped the three-wheeler vehicle that was moving towards Teliamura from Agartala. During the search operation, 25 kg ganja was seized from the bags carried by three women passengers in the auto-rickshaw."

Accordingly, the women were detained and a case has been lodged under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, he said.

"The accused persons hail from areas like Manu, Agartala and Dumboor. The estimated cost of the seized materials would be around Rs 3.5 lakh," Debnath added.

Police said that the Teliamura-bound auto-rickshaw was hired from the Khayerpur area located in the outskirts of Agartala city. (ANI)
