Lucknow, Aug 24 (PTI) AAP leader Sanjay Singh on Monday accused Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of trying divert people's attention from the issues he had raised by making snide comments against him.
"The CM has called me a 'namuna' (sample). Does asking questions regarding the law and order and continuous atrocities (against people) make me a 'namuna'," the Aam Aadmi Party leader said.

Without taking any name, the chief minister said in the Assembly last week, "A 'namuna' comes from Delhi and asks what we have done for the people of the state. They want to talk about UP, but not Delhi."
Responding to Adityanath's remarks, Singh said, "This only reflects his frustration. Why are people of all castes and creed feeling that it is the government of Thakurs in UP. Instead of replying to these questions, Yogiji is calling the people of Uttar Pradesh 'namuna'."

He alslo alleged that the Adityanath government was working on the agenda of "no FIR, no crime".
The AAP leader also targeted the government over the coronavirus situation in the state. "The extent of laxity in dealing with COVID-19 is such that two ministers have succumbed to the virus," he said, adding that he would lodge a complaint with the police for criminal laxity in their treatment leading to their death.
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav had earlier tweeted, "The use of derogatory word by the UP Chief Minister on the floor of the Assembly against a Rajya Sabha MP amounts to gross contempt of the MP and Parliament. Parliament needs to take cognizance and immediate decisive action. How will those downgrading the dignity of Parliament value the Constitution."
The chief minister, however, did not name Sanjay Singh nor mentioned Rajya Sabha member.
