India News | Voting is Going on Peacefully, No Untoward Incident Reported: Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 25 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar said that voting during the second phase of the Lok Sabha election is going on peacefully and no untoward incident has been reported.

DGP Prashant Kumar said, "Today in the second phase of Lok Sabha election, voting at 8 parliamentary constituencies in the 9 districts began at 7 pm. Peaceful voting is going on. No untoward incident has been reported. All the personnel on the field are continuously monitoring the situation. As the standards of the EC force have been deployed."

He further said that 239 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed to ensure fair polls.

"In this 239 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed. 8900 inspectors and sub-inspectors have been deployed. 40,000 reserves and police constables have been deployed just to ensure fair polls have been deployed. Apart from this district's security forces are also in place. We have placed 79 inter-state barriers. We will ensure peaceful polls in the next five phases also. In every district, observers have been placed who ensure fair polls along with Additional director general of police (ADG) law and order and Inspector-General of Police (IGLO)," he further said.

Uttar Pradesh voted today on eight parliamentary constituencies in Amroha, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, Aligarh, Mathura, and Bulandshahr.

The first phase of voting for the seven-phased Lok Sabha election, the world's largest electoral exercise, was held on April 19 in 102 constituencies across 21 states and UTs. According to the Election Commission, the voter turnout registered was over 62 per cent. The third phase of the election will be held on May 7. (ANI)
