Muzaffarnagar (UP), Jul 10 (PTI) A fast-track court here on Thursday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the 2019 murder of a 26-year-old woman who refused his advances.

Fast-track court judge Neha Garg also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on convict Amit, government counsel Arun Jawla said.

Jawla told PTI that the incident occurred on April 22, 2019, in Bahupura village under Bhopa police station limits. The 26-year-old victim was on her way to the fields with her father when Amit accosted her, attempting to force her to accompany him. When she refused, he shot her dead.

The victim's father, Tejpal, had registered a case against Amit.
