Chhapaak and Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior are battling it out at the box office windows. Both the films, from entirely different genres released on 10 January 2020 amid heavy social media controversy. Chhapaak is a social drama that stars a powerful star like Deepika Padukone while Tanhaji is a historic drama that has celebrated stars like Ajay Devgan and Kajol. However, the fans of the respective films are busy pitting them against each other. In this, the Ajay Devgn starrer is leading on day 4. Tanhaji collected Rs 13.75 crore on the fourth day, taking the total to Rs 75.68 crore. On the other hand, Chhapaak saw the collection of Rs 2.35 Crore taking the total to Rs 21. 37 crore. Check out the collections of all four days of both the films below.

Meghna Gulzar directed Chhapaak is based on the real-life incident of acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal. The film was majorly in the news especially after Deepika's presence at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) for some time. Even though she did not speak a word here, she stood in solidarity with the students and this created a debate on social media.

Trolls even chanted the '#BoycottChapaak mantra on Twitter, urging the fans to opt to watch Tanhaji instead. While some termed as a positive step from a mainstream actress like her, others called it a PR gimmick.
