It has been years since the fans got to watch an out-and-out gangster drama. Now Kaante fame director Sanjay Gupta is back with the genre with a promising ensemble cast for the film titled as Mumbai Saga. The film has actors like John Abraham, Emraan Hashmi, Suniel Shetty, Prateik Babbar, Gulshan Grover, Rohit Roy and Amole Gupte in the lead. Now, as per the latest reports, Mahesh Manjrekar has replaced Jackie Shroff to play the late politician and Shiv Sena founder, Balasaheb Thackeray.
It was Jackie Shroff who was all set to be in Balasaheb's shoes on the silver screen. However, he left the project due to his work commitments. The film set in the period of 80s to 90s in Mumbai, the take on this underworld story would be an interesting watch!
Manjrekar was recently seen in Prabhas-Shraddha Kapoor's multilingual actioner namely Saaho. His look and character in the flick were appreciated. He will also be next seen in Dabangg 3, as he will reprise the role of Sonakshi Sinha's on-screen father from the first installment of the franchise. On the other hand, the fans are excited to watch him work with his real daughter, Saiee Manjrekar in her this debut film with Salman Khan.
Speaking of Mumbai Saga again, the fans were impressed with the poster of the film. The image had guns as smoking chimneys with the tagline, 'The Shocking True Story Behind Bombay Becoming Mumbai.' Well, hopes are pinned to this project by the fans for sure!
