The Rakesh Sharma Biopic has been in the news for the longest period of time. The chronicle on India's celebrated astronaut will be up on the silver screen soon but there has been a lot of discussion over the lead star. While all this time, it was almost confirmed that Aamir Khan and Priyanka Chopra will team up for this ambitious project, now both of them have opted out, only to get replaced by Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. As per the latest media reports, King Khan is even set to start shooting in September 2018.

A source told a leading daily, "SRK wants to start shooting in September and continue for two months before he starts promoting Zero, which releases on Christmas. After that, he will resume Salute’s shoot from January 2019. The film is expected to release next year." Well, even though there is no official confirmation from the superstar yet, this news will definitely leave the SRKians in a happy zone!

Earlier, it was reported that it was Aamir Khan himself who recommended Shah Rukh Khan's name for Salute. A source had revealed, "Aamir strongly recommended the Rakesh Sharma biopic to Shah Rukh as a script worth walking that extra mile for. More so, since Aamir intends to devote a substantial period of his time to a very dear project of his, presumably the Mahabharat, and has stopped accepting any other assignments currently."

It will be interesting to watch Bollywood's badshah in the space drama. Currently, he is busy shooting for his next with Aanand L Rai, which is Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif starrer Zero. What are your thoughts on SRK playing Rakesh Sharma on the silver screen?
