For Hollywood, any alternative depiction of Nazi Fuhrer Adolf Hitler, apart from being a bloodthirsty despot, is often met with skepticism and derision. Can't blame them; after all, the former Chancellor of Germany was single-handedly responsible for the millions of Jews during the Holocaust and for the horrifying consequences to World War II. Maverick film-maker Taika Waititi, famed for making What We Do in the Shadows and Thor: Ragnarok, is all set to attempt a different take, quirky at that, of Hitler with his upcoming film, Jojo RabbitJoaquin Phoenix's Joker, Taika Waitit's Jo Jo Rabbit, Jennifer Lopez's Hustlers And More To Be Unveiled At The 2019 Toronto Film Festival.

Going by the early reports, Jojo Rabbit is a dark satire about blind nationalism, which seems to be the need of the hour these days. The movie's plot is about how a young boy in Germany who is made to feel loyal to his nation discovers his mother is hiding a young Jewish girl in their house. This leads to him having a moral conundrum, complicated further by the presence of his imaginary friend, modelled after the Fuhrer himself.

While Scarlett Johannson plays the mother, Taika himself takes on the role of Hitler. The first teaser that dropped some time back offers us a glimpse of how Taika is using his eccentric style of acting to make this curiously unorthodox take on Hitler.

Jojo Rabbit also stars Roman Griffin Davis, Thomasin McKenzie, Rebel Wilson, Stephen Merchant, Alfie Allen and Sam Rockwell. The movie is all set to have its world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival 2019 in September, while its US release is happening a month later.
