The Lion King has been directed by Jon Favreau who also directed the live-action remake of The Jungle Book. Speaking about the remake, the director had earlier said in an interview, "The more we looked at it, the more we challenged the story. There were certain things that needed addressing to make it feel more appropriate to this medium. But as far as the characters, the story, the themes, the music, we really felt that people were very connected to the original, and so hopefully if you are a fan of the original you’ll look at this and say, ‘Oh, I feel like I saw Lion King."
