Mewat, July 28: In a horrendous incident, eight men allegedly gangraped a pregnant goat in Mewat town of Nuh district in Haryana. The pregnant goat died after the sexual abuse. The animal's owner named Aslu on Thursday filed a complaint with the Nagina police station and accused eight men of abducting and raping his pregnant goat.

All the eight accused, who are believed to be drug addicts and alcoholics, abducted the goat and gangraped her in a deserted house, following which she died. "One person, Aslu registered a complaint on July 26 that his goat was gang-raped on the night of July 25 by Savakar, Haroon, Jaffar and five others whose identities are yet to be ascertained," police officer Rajbir Singh said.

“A FIR has been registered under Sections 34, 377 and 429 IPC, Section 11(1)(a) & (l) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960," tweeted Meet Ashar, Emergency Response Coordinator at PETA India. He said he was in touch with the Superintendent of Police, Nuh and SHO Nagina police station, adding that cases of sexual abuse against animals are on the rise.

“People who are violent often start with animals as victims and then move on to humans. This case should, therefore, worry everyone," Ashar said. The police are waiting for the post-mortem report of the goat.
