New Delhi, May 29: The old stereotyped opinion that government-run schools and colleges don't teach well may vanish after news of Delhi government students topping their exams did rounds.Ā On Tuesday the CBSE commerce board exams results were declared in which Bharti Raghav, a Delhi government school student and resident of Sadh Nagar, Palm Colony DelhiĀ joy knew no boundsĀ as she topped the board exam. Similarly, Prince Kumar, a son of a bus driver with the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) topped the CBSE Class 12 examination in the science stream on May 27.

The Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia visited the residence of Raghav to greet the topper for her achievement.

 

 

According to past academic records, the Delhi- CBSE board schools and colleges have performed better, and their pass percentage has increased by 2.37 percent, touching 90.64 percent in 2018. The private schools of the city stayed behind this year with only 88.35 percent of students passing this year. The Union Minister Prakash Javdekar also applauded the government schools for their excellence. In a press conference held earlier, he said that the government schools and government-aided schools scored more than the average result. He claimed,ā€œIt shows the quality of govt schools improving." Along with Javdekar, the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Sisodiya also appreciated the government schools for their excellent performance on Twitter earlier.

 

 

Besides the good academic performance, the trend of girls getting higher grades comparatively to boys is seen this year too. According to reports, in Delhi government schools, 94.1 percent of girls have passed CBSE class XII exams 2018; whereas boys recorded a pass percentage of 85.98, keeping up the trend of girls performing better.
