Chennai, October 5: C Ponnaiyan, Senior All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMKA) leader, in an interview, said that 'wind' should be booked for the death of Chennai techie Subashree Ravi. He further said that the case should be registered against the wind. This statement was in a reference to the September 12 incident, in which Twenty-three-year-old Subashree Ravi was run over by a truck after an illegal AIADMA banner threw her off her scooter. “Subhasri died because the banner fell due to the wind. The guy who erected the banner didn’t push it down and kill her. If anyone has to be booked, it’s the wind," Ponnaiyan said in an interview with News 7. One of the founding members of AIADMK, C Ponnaiyan is a four-time MLA from Tamil Nadu's Tiruchengode constituency. He had also served as Minister of Finance, Agriculture, Education, Industry, Highways, Transport, Cooperation, Law and IT.
Despite the Madras High Court's on illegal banners and hoardings in public places, AIADMK councillor Jayagopal had placed banner to celebrate the wedding of AIADMK functionary's son. The life-size banner had pictures of Tamil Nadu CM K Palaniswami, Deputy CM O. Panneerselvam, K. Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam. After more than 15 days, Jayagopal was arrested.
