Bengaluru, December 27: Avoiding a major accident, Jet Airways moved passengers to a different aircraft as smoke was reported in a flight from Bengaluru to Mangaluru before take-off. The aircraft was grounded at the Kempegowda International Airport for repair work. There were 71 passengers onboard at the when the incident took place.

Meanwhile, Jet Airways regretted the inconvenience caused to the passengers. In a statement, airlines said that the flight 9W 713 developed a technical snag while parked at bay before the departure and the passengers were shifted to another aircraft.

Earlier, Jet Airways flight 9W 0697 Mumbai to Jaipur dated September 20, made an air turn back due to a loss in cabin pressure. The reason being, the crew forgot to select the switch to maintain cabin pressure. Reportedly 30 out of 166 passengers on board experienced nose and ear bleeding, and some even complained of a headache.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident on December 22, Full-service airline Vistara offloaded a passenger as he insisted on smoking onboard but did not file any police complaint after he apologised for the unruly behaviour, an official said. The incident happened on a flight from the national capital to Kolkata.

Recently, Jet Airways, suspended flights to seven Gulf countries from some domestic cities. The airline, however, has not suspended its Gulf operations completely. As part of a new strategy to raise capital, Jet Airways now offers more international flights from Delhi and Mumbai. The major changes have come into effect from December 5.
