Ludhiana, September 10: In a horrifying incident at Guru Tegh Bahadur market, a shopkeeper was set on fire, and his turban shop was burnt to ashes on Saturday afternoon, September 9. The assailant, carrying a burning stick and with his mouth filled with an inflammable liquid, violently entered the shop. The shocking attack was captured by a CCTV camera installed outside the shop. According to the Times of India report, the victim, identified as Gurdeep Singh, 55, suffered severe injuries to his face, neck, and other parts of his body as a result of the savage act.
He was quickly engulfed in flames but was fortunate to receive assistance from onlookers who rushed him to GTB hospital for immediate medical attention. Reports suggest that Gurdeep's condition remains critical. The assailant is believed to be the husband of a former employee, Nisha, who had been working at Gurdeep Singh's shop until recently. It is suspected that Nisha may have informed her husband about the alleged ill intentions that Gurdeep had towards her, which could have triggered the horrific incident. However, the truthfulness of these claims is yet to be confirmed, as there is also a possibility that the woman may have fabricated the story. The police are diligently working to piece together the details of the case and gather statements from the victim's relatives to facilitate the lodging of a First Information Report (FIR). Moreover, investigators are examining footage from the CCTV camera, which suggests the presence of another individual accompanying the assailant, who was seen wearing a helmet. Further inquiries are underway to determine whether the attacker had an accomplice in this crime.
