Chennai, September 24: Over a suspicion of mobile phone theft, a 15-year-old boy from Karur district of Tamil Nadu was allegedly lynched by a group of five people. The people brutally thrashed the boy over the suspicion of stealing Rs 3000 cash and mobile phone. P Balasubramani, the deceased, was staying with his mother who worked as a farmer. He was previously involved in some thefts, police reports suggested.

“The boy, allegedly in the habit of indulging in small thefts, was brutally beaten up by some people, who suspected him to be behind the theft of the mobile phone and Rs 3,000 cash that belonged to a man in Allalikoundanur village,” a police officer said. Mob Lynching is Crime, No Matter What The Motive is, Says PM Narendra Modi

The police arrived on the spot and conducted an investigation. Karur deputy superintendent, who also visited the spot said," P. Balasubramani has suffered many internal injuries. The accused thought the injuries are not serious and left the place. Later he succumbed to death." Karur police formed separate teams and nabbed all the five accused.
