A case of alleged medical negligence has emerged from Khargone district, where a surgical napkin was reportedly left inside a woman’s abdomen during an operation at a government hospital. The patient, identified as Manisha Ghodmade, is currently in critical condition after undergoing a second surgery at a private facility in Indore.

Officials from the Madhya Pradesh Health Department have initiated an inquiry into the matter. Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajkumari Devda described the case as serious and confirmed that a three-member team of senior doctors has been constituted to investigate.

The committee has been tasked with examining whether standard operating procedures were followed during the surgery and identifying those responsible for the lapse.
