Mumbai, July 17:  In one of the recent landmark judgements passed by the Bombay High Court (HC), it has been ruled that parents can take back their properties gifted or named after their children if they see any sudden change in their behaviour. A division bench of justices Ranjit More and Anuja Prabhudesai was hearing a matter where an elderly couple, residents of Andheri, approached the court seeking justice after their son and daughter-in-law started behaving differently with them and they also declined to take care of their parents.

As per news reports, the petitioner moved court saying that his son and daughter-in-law earlier did not accept his second wife, but later suddenly the duo started pampering them. Since everything was good, they all started living together and the couple also decided to share their property with their son. But soon after the parents made their children the legal heir of their property, there was an abrupt change in both the son and daughter-in-law and started fighting with them for trivial reasons.

The couple observed that since they shared their property with their children, they have stopped caring for them. They told the court that the sudden love and affection on the children's part was a ploy in greed for the property. Now the judgement passed in this case will be valid for  similar cases where the children mistreat their parents after becoming the legal heir to their properties.
