New Delhi, October 18: On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished citizens of the country on the auspicious occasion of Durga Ashtami. The Prime Minister extended his wishes through a tweet. PM Modi tweeted, “Greetings on the auspicious occasion of Durga Ashtami. May Maa Durga fulfil everyone’s aspirations, further the atmosphere of joy and eliminate all evil from our society. Have a blessed Durga Puja!"

However, he was called out for sharing the picture of Goddess Kali instead of Goddess Durga. Some netizens also pointed out that he shared pictures from his 2015 visit to Dakshineshwar Temple near Kolkata. Kali Puja is celebrated by Bengalis after the festival of Durga Puja. This year, Kali Puja will be celebrated on November 6. Navaratri 2018 began from October 10 and ended on Vijayadashmi on October 18. People worshipped different forms of Goddess Durga during Navaratri.
