Kanpur, December 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday took a boat ride in river Ganga at Atal ghat in Uttar Pradesh. But he was not alone, the Prime Minister was accompanied by top Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, and Bihar Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi accompanied him. Earlier today, PM Modi chaired the first meeting of the National Rejuvenation, Protection and Management of River Ganga Council (National Ganga Council) in Kanpur. The meeting was attended by Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Yogi Adityanath, Trivendra Singh Rawat, Sushil Kumar Modi among others. The "Namami Gange Programme" aims to ensure effective abatement of pollution and rejuvenation of river Ganga by adopting a river basin approach.
