New Delhi, January 11: The Supreme Court Collegium on Friday has recommended elevation of Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court and Justice Sanjiv Khanna, judge of Delhi High Court, as Supreme Court Judges. The decision of the Collegium comprising of CJI Ranjan Gogoi, Justices A K Sikri, S A Bobde, N.V.Ramana and Arun Mishra was made public on the apex court's website. Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Uttarakhand HC Chief Justice KM Joseph's Name Among Others For SC Judge

Currently, there are five vacant posts in the apex court, out of which recommendations were made for only two posts. Justice Maheshwari stands at 21 in the combined seniority of High Court Judges on the all-India basis, while Justice Khanna is at no.33.

The five-member Collegium took the decision in its meeting held on January 10 to recommend the names of Justices Maheshwari and Khanna for their appointment to the Supreme Court. The Collegium also observed that both Justice Maheshwari and Justice Khanna are the most deserving and suitable than other Chief Justices and senior Judges of High Courts. Justice KM Joseph's Elevation as Supreme Court Judge Recommended Again by Collegium.

Meanwhile, the Collegium has also recommended re-transfer of Justice Pramath Patnaik to Orissa High Court. Justice Patnaik earlier requested re-transfer to the High Court of the state from where he hails. Justice Patnaik has been serving in the Jharkhand High Court since 22nd December, 2014.
