Unnao Rape Survivor Death: Akhilesh Yadav Sits on Dharna Outside UP Assembly, Demands Resignation of Yogi Adityanath

Lucknow, December 7: Akhilesh Yadav, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Samajwadi Party President on Saturday sat on dharna outside state Assembly after the death of the Unnao rape survivor in Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi on Friday. Terming it as an extremely condemnable incident, Yadav demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Home Secretary and Uttar Pradesh DGP. "Till the day Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, state Home Secretary and DGP don't resign, justice will not be done. Yadav was accompanied by senior party leaders. He sat before the main entrance of the Vidhan Sabha to protest the Unnao incident. He said that the SP will conduct a shokh sabha in all districts of the state over Unnao rape case. "This is an extremely condemnable incident. This is a black day. It is not the first such incident under this BJP Govt. The rape survivor, who was set ablaze while on her way to a court hearing on Thursday, died at 11:40 pm on Friday at the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. She had suffered 90% burns and was undergoing treatment there. Dr Shalab Kumar, HOD of burns and plastic department at the hospital confirmed the death and said she suffered cardiac arrest at 11:10 pm on Friday.
