Meerut, December 24: A woman in her thirties, who was allegedly gang-raped by three men, tried to commit suicide by immolating herself outside Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) office in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut on Monday. According to ANI, the woman poured kerosene oil on herself and entered SSP's office. Superintendent of Police- Rural while speaking to ANI said "She poured kerosene oil on herself and entered our office. She alleged she had filed a complaint against three people for gang rape yet no action was taken. Meanwhile, on December 22, a 23-year-old man was arrested for raping an eight-year-old minor girl in Uttar Pradesh's Chitrakoot. The accused, Suraj, allegedly raped the minor when she had gone to pick up fruits with her younger brother, said police. After committing the crime, the accused left unconscious girl and fled from the spot. Later, an FIR was registered against him and the minor was sent for medical examination.
