New Delhi, February 26: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday announced that he is postponing his indefinite hunger strike demanding complete statehood for Delhi in wake of the prevailing Indo-Pak situation. India on early Tuesday struck the Jaish-e-Mohammed's (JeM) biggest training camp at Balakot killing a large number of terrorists and their trainers in Pakistan. IAF's Mirage 2000 fighter aircraft dropped 1000 kg bombs at terror camps in Balakot in Pakistan. "In view of prevailing Indo-Pak situation, I am postponing my upwas for full statehood of Delhi. We all stand as one nation today", Kejriwal tweeted hours after the strike.

While addressing the budget session of Delhi Assembly in the last week, Kejriwal had announced that the AAP-led Delhi government would launch a campaign from March 1 to demand statehood for the national capital. Arvind Kejriwal Appeals Narendra Modi to Grant Full Statehood to Delhi. 

"From 1st March I will begin a hunger strike. I am going to fast till we get statehood. I am ready to face death," Kejriwal had said in the assembly. The Delhi Chief Minister took to Twitter and said, “I cannot repay the debt of my Delhi for all that the people here have given me in my life. It will be my proud privilege to lay down my life fighting for Delhiites rights. Delhi deserves full statehood and must get it at all costs.”

Kejriwal launched a scathing attack on the Centre and said the Delhi government is unable to perform its duties towards people of the city because it lacked administrative power. “Democracy has been implemented in entire nation, but not Delhi. The public votes and selects a government, but the government has no power,” Kejriwal said.
