New Delhi, December 25: The nation is observing the 95th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna awardee Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Wednesday and to pay him a tribute, President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached the 'Sadaiv Atal' memorial site in the national capital. Apart from the President and PM, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP working president JP Nadda and senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani paid their tributes to the political stalwart.

Earlier in the morning, PM Modi took to Twitter and paid his respect for the ex-premier by sharing a video of his mentor. Modi was heard applauding Vajpayee's qualities and political understanding of the country. PM Modi wrote, " Tributes to Atal Ji on his Jayanti. As per the schedule, PM Modi would unveil a statue of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Lok Bhawan in Lucknow. He would also lay the foundation stone of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University for which the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to transfer 50 acres of land.
