Mumbai, May 23: A high-stakes electoral battle was seen in Baramati Lok Sabha constituency in Maharashtra where Supriya Sule, daughter of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, won a third consecutive term. Polling for Lok Sabah election in Baramati parliamentary seat was held on April 23 in the third phase of general polls.

In a bid to defeat Supriya Sule, the Shiv Sena has fielded Kanchan Rahul Kul. The process of filing nomination for Baramati Lok Sabha election began from March 28. The NCP has formed an alliance with the Congress. The NCP will contest 20 seats, whereas Congress 24. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the alliance of the BJP, Shiv Sena and Swabhiman Paksha together registered victory on 42 seats in Maharashtra. The Congress bagged twos eats, while the NCP four. Lok Sabha elections will take place in seven phases - on April 11, April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19.
