Lucknow, December 4: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday declared a compensation of Rs 40 lakh for the wife of slain police inspector Subodh Kumar. The UP government also declared Rs 10 lakh for his parents. CM Yogi Adityanath also said that a government job will be provided to a family member of Police Inspector Subodh Kumar who died in the mob violence in Bulandshahr, reported news agency ANI. Police Inspector Subodh Kumar was attacked and shot dead by a mob protesting against alleged cow slaughter while a young man was gunned down in unexplained circumstances in Uttar Pradesh on Monday.

The violence erupted after members of fringe groups went berserk alleging that some cows had been slaughtered by a community, police said. Enraged, they loaded the carcasses on tractor trolleys and jammed traffic on a busy road.

He was, however, targeted and the crowd pelted stones at the police personnel, critically wounding the officer. The officer was also shot in the head and was declared dead at a community health centre. Anand Kumar, Uttar Pradesh ADG Law and Order, informed earlier in the day that inspector Subodh Kumar Singh was the investigating officer of Akhlaq lynching case, Dadri from September 28, 2015 till November 9, 2015.
