The grand old party candidate Jashubhai Patel defeated BJP's Dhavalsinh Zala in Bayad seat. In Tharad seat, Congress candidate Gulabsinh Rajput triumphed over saffron party's Jivraj Patel.

The ruling Congress emerged victorious in bypolls to Phagwara, Mukerian, and Jalalabad assembly constituencies. The grand old party candidate Raminder Singh Awla defeated Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) nominee Raj Singh Dibipura by over 16,000 votes from Jalalabad, considered an Akali bastion.

New Delhi, October 24: The bypoll results for 51 assembly seats and two Lok Sabha constituency began at 8 am on Thursday. The results of by-election will be announced along with Haryana and Maharashtra Assembly election results. The polling was held on October 21, Monday. The primary contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress. Maharashtra, Haryana Assembly Election Results 2019 to be Out Today, Ruling BJP Holds The Edge.

Currently, thirty of these seats are held by the saffron party, 12 by Congress and rest by other parties. Uttar Pradesh is witnessing bypolls in 11 assembly seats, Gujarat in six, Bihar five, Kerala five, four each Punjab and Assam, three Sikkim; two each in Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, and Rajasthan; and one each in Madhya Pradesh, Arunachal, Odisha, Puducherry, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Meghalaya.

Apart from this, results for Satara and Samastipur Lok Sabha seats will be declared. The assembly bypolls 2019 was required after some MLAs won the Lok Sabha elections and abandoned from the state assembly. The Ghosi seat fell vacated following the resignation of BJP leader Phagu Chauhan after he was appointed the Governor of Bihar.
