Bhubaneshwar, April 2: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Tuesday released the fifth list of seven candidates for the upcoming Odisha Assembly elections. The party has fielded Ananta Narayan Jena from Bhubaneshwar Central, Susanta Kumar Rout is contesting from Bhubaneshwar-North and Soumya Ranjan Patnaik from Khandapada. The BJD has also given tickets to Mukesh Pal from Pallahara, Ramesh Chandra Sai from Athamallik, Pranab Prakash Das from Jajpur and Ashok Bal from Korel. Odisha Assembly Elections 2019 Schedule: Polling for All 147 Seats in four phases, Counting of Votes on May 23.

The Naveen Patnaik led party also announced the names of two candidates for the Lok Sabha elections 2019. The BJD has fielded Mahesh Sahoo from Dhenkanal Lok Sabha constituency and Chandramani Murmu from Kendujhar. Yesterday, the ruling party in Odisha announced Bhartruhari Mahtab as its candidate from Cuttack Lok Sabha constituency.

The state is going for elections for 147-member assembly in four phases along with Lok Sabha polls between April 11 and April 29. The first phase will be held on April 11, second on April 18, third on April 23 and fourth on April 29. The main contest is to be witnessed between the incumbent BJD headed by chief minister Naveen Patnaik, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
