Outer Manipur is one of the two Lok Sabha constituencies in the northeastern state of Manipur in India. This seat is reserved for the scheduled tribe. Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated Houlim Shokhopao Mate, while the Indian National Congress has chosen K James of Congress to compete for General Election, 2019. The Election Commission has declared March 25, 2019, as the last date of filing on nominations from the seats. In the 16th Lok Sabha election held in the year 2014, Thangso Baite from Indian National Congress(INC) emerged victorious by bagging 2,96,770 votes. He defeated Soso Lorho from Naga People's Front who got 2,81,121 votes. The Congress candidate won by the majority of 15,637 votes. The other major candiate involved in the election last year were Gangmumei Kamei from Bhartiya Janata Party, Chungkhokai Doungel from National Congress Party (NCP) and Kim Gangte from Trinamool Congress. The total turnout of voters were 7,71,766.

The 17th Lok Sabha election will be held in India starting from April 11, 2019 and will last till May 19. 2019. The polling will be divided into total 7 phases. The result for General Election 2019 will be declared on May 23, 2019.
