In the 16th Lok Sabha election held in the year 2014, Thangso Baite from Indian National Congress(INC) emerged victorious by bagging 2,96,770 votes. He defeated Soso Lorho from Naga People's Front who got 2,81,121 votes. The Congress candidate won by the majority of 15,637 votes. The other major candiate involved in the election last year were Gangmumei Kamei from Bhartiya Janata Party, Chungkhokai Doungel from National Congress Party (NCP) and Kim Gangte from Trinamool Congress. The total turnout of voters were 7,71,766.
