The last general election in the year 2014 was won by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Keshav Prasad Maurya who bagged the total of 5,03,564 votes. The runner up of the election was Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Dharam Raj Singh Patel with 1,95,256 votes. Phulpur also had a by-poll in the year 2018 as per which, Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Nagendra Pratap Singh Patel won the election with 3,42,922 votes, who is also the current MP on the seat.
