Mumbai, May 23: NCP candidate Sunil Tatkare was elected as Member of Parliament from Raigad Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra. Raigad parliamentary seat went to polls on April 23 in the third phase of general elections. Shiv Sena MP Anant Geete currently represents Raigad constituency.

Shiv Sena renominated Annat Geete from Raigad Lok Sabha seat. He contested against Sunil Tatkare of the NCP. Tatkare faced a defeat against Geete in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. In Raigad constituency, the process of filing nomination began from March 28. The last day for nominations would be April 4. The Shiv Sena is contesting 23 out of 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra. It has left remaining 25 seats for its ally the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The NCP and Congress are likely to contest 23 seats each in an alliance. Check Full Schedule of Lok Sabha Elections 2019.

In 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP-Shiv Sena -Swabhiman Paksha combine together bagged 42 out of the 48 seats in Maharashtra. The Congress won only two seats and NCP just four. Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held in seven phases - on April 11, April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19.
