Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday has appealed to the people of Haryana to not "harbour" those accused in the Rewari Gangrape case. Chief Minister Khattar also warned those harbouring the accused of strict punishment and added that the remaining two accused out of five will soon be arrested. The chief minister's comment comes even as the Congress has demanded for the resignation of CM Manohar Lal Khattar.

The Haryana Police on Sunday made two arrests - a doctor and the owner of the tube-well and nabbed the key accused, Nishu Phogat, in the alleged gang rape of a young woman from Rewari. Ten teams have been formed under a Special Investigation Team (SIT), to probe the Rewari gangrape case. Nuh Superintendent of Police (SP) Naazneen Bhasin informed that within 30 hours the SIT has arrested two people - Deen Dayal and Dr Sanjeev while the main accused Nishu has been nabbed and he is on his way. The police said that two of the prime accused — Army constable Pankaj and Manish — are still on the run and that efforts are on to catch the two. The police has also not ruled out the possibility of involvement of more people in the rape case.

Meanwhile, main accused Nishu Phogat has accepted his crime and said that he was the one who followed the bus which the woman was travelling in and spiked the drink.

The doctor who has been arrested was the person who examined the woman after she was sedated and sexually assaulted. He has been arrested for not reporting the crime to police on charges of criminal conspiracy.
