Patna, May 21: Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) chief Upendra Kushwaha on Tuesday made a statement that could spur controversy. The RLSP chief has urged people of Bihar and its allies to protect their votes even if they have to pick up weapons. Recollecting the times when booth capturing events were common in the state, Kushwaha said, “Today the booth capturing does not take place in the state but there are efforts being made to loot the election results. If an attempt like this is made this time, then I urge the people of Bihar and mahagathbandhan to pick up weapons to protect their votes.”

Along with RLSP chief, Bihar Congress Committee president Madan Mohan Jha, RJD chief Ram Chandra Purve and Vikasshil Insan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahni were present in the press conference. This statement comes after several reports of alleged movement of voting machines, purportedly to replace polled EVMs in strongrooms. Election Commission, however, dismissed the reports.

On Sunday, multiple exit polls results have predicted that BJP-led NDA is comfortably winning the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. The Exit poll shows NDA winning 38-40 seats in Bihar while the mahagathbandhan of Congress, RJD and others are expected to win not more than two seats.
