New Delhi, June 4: With the crescent moon being sighted, Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated in all parts of India tomorrow. The first prominent political leaders who have wished the Muslim community on Eid al-Fitr 2019 are President Ram Nath Kovind, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and former Jammu & Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti. Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh also issued a statement, greeting the Muslim community in the state on the occasion.
"Let us on this day rededicate ourselves and come together to build bridges of love and affection to create a world that is free of falsehood and animosity, imbibing the spirit of brotherhood that is intrinsic to the occasion, which teaches us the values of compassion and tolerance," said the statement issued by the Punjab CM.
Eid al-Fitr is the biggest festival of the Muslim community, and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, during the course of which Muslims are duty bound to fast from dawn to dusk.
