The Punjabis are all geared up to ring in their New Year, Baisakhi on April 14, 2018. It is the most important festival celebrated by the Sikh community since it marks the birth of Khalsa Panth under Guru Gobind Singh. He was the tenth guru of the Sikhs who helped in formation of the community. each year Baisakhi falls on April 13 or 14. The festival of Baisakhi is celebrated with utmost enthusiasm in Punjab and Haryana but Sikhs all over the country also have some celebratory traditions.

The villages in Punjab have extensive celebrations with song, dance and feast. Baisakhi is also a festival of harvest so people offer their prayers, seeking blessings for a good harvest.
