On Canada Day, three separate colonies of the United Canadas, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick were united into a single Dominion within the British Empire called Canada under the British North American Act 1867. This day was earlier known as the Dominion Day and was renamed in 1982 under the Canada Act 1982.
