Amul's Ad on Jammu and Kashmir Losing Special Status Under Article 370:

Article 370 and Article 35A of the Indian Constitution have been a matter of dispute between politicians of Jammu and Kashmir and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which rules at the Centre. President Ram Nath Kovind passed an order abolishing Article 35A in J&K. Article 35A of the Indian Constitution gave the Jammu and Kashmir state's legislature to define "permanent residents" of the state and provide special rights and privileges to those permanent residents.

Article 370 confers an autonomous status to Jammu and Kashmir. It says Parliament needs the Jammu and Kashmir state government's approval for applying laws in the state — except defence, foreign affairs, finance, and communications. Meanwhile, the United Nations has urged India and Pakistan to maintain peace. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged all parties to exercise restraint, his spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said on Monday.
