Kerala is lifting itself out of the deadly floods that hit the state earlier this month. The aftermath of the disaster is equally terrifying and the state continues to cripple for necessities. From basic needs, home utilities to identification cards and certificates, many have simply lost everything including their livelihood. But the spirit of Kerala has not diminished and must be lauded. As the state is returning to normalcy slowly, a video going viral on social media shows a neat long queue of people waiting on their bikes on a road. Eid 2018: Kerala Temple Allows Muslims to Pray Namaz For Bakra Eid as Mosques Are Still Covered in Water

The photographs were being circulated with people saying that the half-a-kilometre line was in front of a liquor store. Some also said that people waiting patiently in long queues to buy alcohol is a common sight in Kerala. However, it has been proven the message was fake and people were actually waiting on their bikes for petrol. According to a report in The News Minute, people had lined up before the Indian Oil pump in Thazhathel Padi, Ponnani in Malappuram district as none of the stores in the area had fuel for consecutive days.

It states that the video would have been taken between August 19 and 20 when the area faced petrol shortage due to floods in the state. The report also confirmed that there was no liquor shop in the vicinity. As the nearby petrol pumps did not have fuel, people gathered here when they learnt that the pump had refilled their stock.

Following which people were praised for waiting in queues and not crowding the area. Their disciple and sensible attitude were lauded by netizens thereafter. The video shows how the bikes were waiting in extreme corner of the road to ensure smooth movement of traffic. Meanwhile, the state government cut short their Onam celebrations and many Keralites welcomed the move and contributed to their relief operations. According to the Kerala government, 302 persons have died between August 8-26 due to the floods. Relief operations are currently in full force, while flooding continues in some areas near the backwaters.
