A fisherman in the United States of America has just got his hands in gold, weighing a hefty 32.8 pounds, 36 inches long and 26 inches in width and it is seen shining with a kingly brilliance. The finding which went viral recently, made the fisherman, identified as Jason Fugate, bewildered as he had never seen something as beautiful and gold in an American Lake. According to the experts, the fish that looks like an overgrown goldfish is actually a bigmouth buffalo and the animal discovered by Jason could at least be 100 years old. Girl Shocked to Find Dead Goldfish in a Bag Her Mom Ordered Online.

So here’s what happened! The 33-year-old Jason, hopped in his boat to enjoy his peaceful time fishing in the lake. It was during the evening when he spotted something gold and glowing, looming in the depths. At first, he thought it to be an overgrown goldfish or other carp. Unsure about the kind, he approached, Dr Lackmann, a biologist at North Dakota State University, who after examining the fish’s otolith, a calcium structure from the fish’s inner ear, revealed that the fish was at least 100 years old, reports the Daily MailOne of World's Rarest Turtles, Yangtze Giant Softshell Dies in Chinese Zoo; Rafetus Swinhoei Species Moves Close to Extinction.

While scientists cannot be sure of what caused the orange hue, Dr Lackmann stated that this advanced age, or a genetic mutation, could be the reason for the creature’s unique bright colouring. The fish will now undergo taxidermy and be mounted as a keepsake, with the help of fisherman and experts. Bigmouth buffalo is a native to Minnesota and are said to be the largest member of the sucker family.
