Chandigarh, November 24: Police in India is frequently vilified and accused of apathy through their portrayal in the media, as well as the silver screen. But this police constable from Punjab has gone far ahead in breaking the negative stereotype attached with the men in uniform. The Punjab police constable is earning praise on social media after a video of him consoling an elderly lady has gone viral. In the video, the elderly lady, whose grandson was lodged in a jail in Malaysia for the past four months, broke into tears. The police constable who has a Facebook page named “Goldy Punjab Police” not only consoled the woman, but also assured her of every possible help. When the elderly lady folded hands in front of the cop for help, he not only stopped her from doing so, but also said that he was like her son. The video was shared by the cop on his Facebook page on November 12. It is now widely shared on social media. The police constable is also a social activist. There are many videos on his Facebook page, where he was seen helping the needy people by collecting money for them. In another video shared by him on his Facebook page, Goldy along with a team of Punjab Police visited the house of a cancer patient and gave her money.
