A dog owner in Dublin had to witness the death of his beloved pet who was killed by a swan. A walk in the Bushy Park is located in Terenure ended in horror when a cocker spaniel swimming with the birds was attacked by a swan with its wings so badly, that the dog ended up dead. Onlookers watched in horror and tried to distract the swan but their attempts were in vain. An onlooker who was feeding the ducks here reported to Irish Times, "The swan beat down on it, with one wing and then another. We started screaming at the swan, trying to distract it." But within three or four slaps by the swan, the dog was dead. The witness also added that the owner of the dog was so shocked after seeing the dog being attacked, that he dropped his phone in the water. Dublin City Council park ranger, Peter Duignan arrived with the officials and retrieved the dead body of the pet dog using a small paddle boat. "I have never heard of anything like this happening before," he said. The poor dog did not even realise what was going on and swam towards the bird. But fearing the dog would cause harm to the little ones, the swam launched an aggressive attack.

The Bushy Park sees a lot of visitors daily and variety of activities take place here but this is the first time such an attack was seen here. The witness also added that there should be signs put up in the park to warn people about mother swans.
