Nearly 11 years after the murder of activist Dr Narendra Dabholkar, a Special CBI Court in Pune has delivered its verdict in the trial against five individuals linked to Sanatan Sanstha. The court acquitted ENT surgeon Dr Virendrasinh Tawade, Mumbai-based lawyer Sanjeev Punalekar, and his aide Vikram Bhave due to lack of evidence. However, the two alleged assailants, Sachin Andure and Sharad Kalaskar, were found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment. Dr Dabholkar, a veteran rationalist, was gunned down on August 20, 2013, by two bike-borne men on the Vitthal Ramji Shinde bridge near the Omkareshwar temple. BIS Scientist Held in Bribery Case: CBI Sends Nagpur Bureau of Indian Standards Scientific Cadre Officer To Five Years in Jail, Imposes Fine of Rs 10 Lakh for Taking Bribe of Rs 15,000.
