FIFPro on Tuesday, called for the immediate removal of punishment for Iranian footballer Amir Nasr-Azadani, who is facing a death sentence in his country for reportedly campaigning for the rights and freedom of women. Taking to social media, the football body stated that it was 'shocked' and 'sickened' to learn about this development and expressed solidarity towards the player. The 26-year-old was earlier arrested for committing ‘moharabeh,’ which means 'waging war against God.' He had joined the protests in Iran and campaigned for women's rights.
